Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast
Welcome to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. It is our pleasure and privilege to serve you. The Daughters of Charity, the founders of Sacred Heart Hospital, have been committed to providing quality health care for all, since arriving in Northwest Florida during the Civil War.
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast is the latest chapter in our long history of service to Florida's great Northwest. This full-service community hospital, located east of Destin, Florida in South Walton County, is here for you and your loved ones in your time of need.
From an unparalleled range of care and services in Walton County, to the full support of Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, the best care comes from the Heart.
I invite you to take a closer look at what Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast has to offer you. This beautiful 58-bed facility has been built with growth and progress in mind. It has the capacity to expand, and new services will continue to be introduced as the Emerald Coast continues to grow and change.
Nine out of 10 patients at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast say they would "definitely recommend" the hospital to others, according to the first national, standardized, publicly reported survey that captures the patients' perception of the care they received. Sacred Heart's rating by patients regarding their overall experience was the highest among hospitals in Northwest Florida and ranks among the top 1% of hospitals nationwide.

Beginning in 1998, Walton County and Destin residents began strongly expressing their desire for their own quality healthcare facility. With the closing of the Destin Hospital in 1994, increasing traffic congestion, and the continuing growth of the region, the needs were evident.
In 1999, with the support of the community and a land donation from The St. Joe Company, Sacred Heart Health System submitted a Certificate of Need to the State of Florida to build a 50-bed hospital. Sacred Heart received approval in April 2000 to proceed with building this new healthcare facility.
Displaying their support for this new hospital, the Emerald Coast community joined Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Sacred Heart Health System family members for a groundbreaking ceremony in May 2001. Our hospital opened for services on January 27, 2003. Designed with growth in mind, Sacred Heart is dedicated to becoming the Heart of the community and an investment in your future.
