Deeply rooted in the Daughters of Charity values is our commitment to the poor, which goes beyond covering the costs of hospital care for those unable to pay.
In fact, Sacred Heart Mission Services strives to keep the community healthy through a variety of programs and services funded entirely by Sacred Heart Health System.
With our greatest emphasis on prevention -- through screening and education outreach services -- Sacred Heart serves the needy in many ways, including the following:
Outreach and Community Service
Mission in Motion, our mobile health service, provides free screenings, vaccinations and health information to thousands of area residents on a regular basis.
Our Parish Nurse Program in which nurses volunteer within their own churches to promote the health and wellness of members of the congregation.
Through our web site, we provide access to hundreds of physician-approved articles on parenting issues, children’s health, pregnancy, first aid, nutrition and fitness. See these articles in our kidshealth.org section.
Through our Community Sponsorships, we provide support to local organizations such as the American Heart Association, The March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Society.
Our Prescriptions for the Poor program provides immediate and interim prescriptions for individuals who do not have the means to pay for them.
Direct Assistance
Sacred Heart provides millions of dollars in charitable care each year to people who cannot afford to pay for hospital care.
Through ongoing Assistance to Missionary Projects, we provide funding, clinical supplies and volunteer assistance for a number of area, national and international relief efforts.
