The Mission in Motion mobile health unit makes regular visits to senior citizen centers, churches, low-income housing projects, and other areas frequented by the elderly, the poor and the uninsured. Outpatient Diabetes Class
Sacred Heart offers a dedicated diabetes education class designed for diabetics, families and friends, with an emphasis on the development of self-management skills. Registered nurses and a dietician will cover numerous topics, including the diabetes disease process, survival skills and a healthy diet. The class requires a doctor’s order. Freedom From Smoking
The American Lung Association's seven-week smoking cessation program addresses the physical, psychological and habitual addiction to nicotine. The cost of the program is $75 per person; however, the orientation class is free, and a limited number of scholarships are available for the entire program. Smoking Cessation
Sacred Heart Hospital offers free one-on-one consultations by appointment to help smokers develop a plan for quitting, based on their individual level of addiction and their habits.
