AirHeart
Moving at the Speed of Life
Our Mission Takes Flight
AIRHeart is Sacred Heart's air ambulance service dedicated to transporting critically ill or injured patients to health care facilities throughout Northwest Florida. AIRHeart has two helicopters that fly from bases in Walton County and Marianna, Florida.

Services
AIRHeart provides the same prompt, safe, high-quality care you have come to expect from Sacred Heart since we opened the area's first modern hospital in 1915. AIRHeart is an aerial ambulance that lifts the seriously ill or critically injured from crisis to care.

Our Crew Has Earned its Wings
AIRHeart operates under the direction of the Medical Director of the Sacred Heart Emergency/Trauma Center that includes the region's only Pediatric Trauma Center. In addition, a group of seasoned professionals stand at the ready. Each transport begins with a specially trained dispatcher in the Walton County Emergency Operations Command Center. Within seconds, a flight crew - consisting of a lead pilot, a Sacred Heart trauma flight nurse and a certified paramedic from South Walton Fire District - flies into action, significantly reducing the time it takes to get to a critically ill patient.

Medical Support
Depending on the patient's location, personal preference and the medical severity, the helicopter team may transport the patient to hospitals in Panama City, Pensacola, Fort Walton Beach, Dothan, Crestview, or in Walton County.

Aircraft
Each AIRHeart chopper is an American Euro-Copter B0-105 helicopter specially fitted to transport as many as two patients and the three-man flight team. The helicopters can cruise at 140 mph. This new service complements the Health System's pediatric transport service that has been in operation for more than 25 years with ground and fixed wing aircraft transport of sick or injured infants or children to Sacred Heart Children's Hospital from distant locations.

Service Area
From bases in South Walton County and Marianna, AIRHeart deploys to emergency medical situations across Northwest Florida, South Alabama and Southwest Georgia. Inter-facility transfers may be conducted within a much larger region.
