Bone Densitometry
A bone density scans allows for early diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, a potentially painful and crippling bone disease. Bone densitometry uses an advanced technology called dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) to safely, accurately and painlessly measure bone mineral density. During an exam, the patient lays comfortably still on a padded table while the unit scans two or more areas, usually the fracture-prone hip and spine. The entire process takes only minutes to complete, involves no injections or invasive procedures, and patients remain fully clothed.
