When It Comes to Your Health…Image is Everything!

At Sacred Heart Health System, we understand that the best way to treat our patients is to accurately diagnose their medical problems. The best way to do that is through clear, precise and accurate imaging services.

PET/CT Imaging
PET/CT imaging is the most precise technology available for diagnosing cancer and in measuring the effects of cancer treatment on a tumor. This combined imaging technology assists oncologists in detecting even the smallest cancer tumors in the earliest stages, when they are most treatable.

PET/CT combines a CT scan, which produces detailed pictures of internal anatomy, with a simultaneously acquired PET scan, allowing physicians to view biological or metabolic activity. This combination allows for earlier and more-accurate detection of cancerous tumors than with either CT or PET imaging alone.

Sacred Heart’s PET/CT services are located in the first floor of the Medical Office Building adjacent to Sacred Heart Hospital, in Suite 140. Call 278-3835 for more information.

Computed Tomography (CT)
Computed Tomography produces images of virtual “slices” of areas of the body being scanned. The CT provides a three-dimensional image of the inside of the body from a large series of two-dimensional radiographic images. Its cross-sectional images are used for diagnostic purposes as well as preventive medicine or screening for disease.

Low-Dose CT Screening for Lung Cancer
Computed Tomography produces images of virtual “slices” of areas of the body being scanned. The CT provides a three-dimensional image of the inside of the body from a large series of two-dimensional radiographic images. Its cross-sectional images are used for diagnostic purposes as well as preventive medicine or screening for disease.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
MRI uses magnetic fields and radio frequencies to generate detailed anatomical and functional images.

Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear medicine utilizes injected radio-tracer elements, which provide the ability to image the extent of a disease process in the body.

Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
A bone density scans allows for early diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, a potentially painful and crippling bone disease.

Digital Mammography
Digital Mammography uses digital receptors and computers instead of x-ray film to help examine breast tissue for breast cancer and to assist with stereotactic biopsy.
