MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. -- Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast recently hosted its 7th annual Back-to-School Drive to benefit area students. Just days before school began, Sacred Heart associates delivered complete school supply packs for 167 students at Freeport Elementary School and Freeport Middle School.
“We appreciate your support so much, especially during this challenging economic time,” said Beth Tucker, Freeport Middle School principal. “It’s like Christmas -- the children will be thrilled.”
In addition to the school supplies, Sacred Heart associates also provided 69 new pairs of shoes. The school administrators distributed the supplies on a need-basis.
Since opening its doors to patient care in January 2003, the not-for-profit hospital has grown steadily and continues to fulfill its mission to improve the health of the community at large, with special attention to service of the poor. Additional community service projects Sacred Heart supports throughout the year include a Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, the Angel Tree Drive at Christmas, the Easter Basket Drive for Delta Healthcare residents, Habitat for Humanity workdays, Adopt-a-Highway clean-up days and much more.
Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast was recently named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Thomson Reuters and was also among 23 hospitals in the country to receive the Everest Award for National Benchmarks.
