MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – For the third time in a row since opening in 2003, the clinical laboratory at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast has been awarded accreditation by the College of American Pathologists in recognition of service excellence. The laboratory is one of nearly 7,000 laboratories nationwide accredited by the College of American Pathologists.

During the accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. Inspectors also examine the entire staff’s qualifications, the laboratory’s equipment, facilities, safety program, safety records, and the overall management of the laboratory. This stringent inspection is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients.

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast is a 58-bed hospital located just east of Destin in Miramar Beach. The hospital was recently named one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals® by Thomson Reuters and was also among 23 hospitals in the country to receive the Everest Award for National Benchmarks.
