PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Dr. Thomas R. Johnson, a medical oncologist with Sacred Heart Medical Oncology Group, has successfully passed rigorous reviews to become credentialed by M. D. Anderson Physicians Network®, a subsidiary of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center – the nation’s leader in cancer care.

To be credentialed by M. D. Anderson Physicians Network®, doctors must provide quality diagnostic and treatment services consistent with M. D. Anderson’s state-of-the-art guidelines for treating cancer. The lengthy credentialing process includes an assessment of their office practices and a medical records review, in order to ensure compliance with the program.

Dr. Johnson earned his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse in Syracuse, New York. He received residency training in internal medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Fla. and completed advanced fellowship training in medical oncology and hematology at Johns Hopkins Oncology Center in Baltimore and the University of Florida College of Medicine.

Employed by Sacred Heart Medical Oncology Group, Dr. Johnson sees patients at the Davis Highway location of the Sacred Heart Cancer Center in Pensacola and the Miramar Beach office located at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.

Patients of credentialed physicians receive care in accordance with M. D. Anderson’s multidisciplinary approach to cancer care, in which physicians from various specialties, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and cancer surgeons, join together to plan the patient’s cancer treatment.
