MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. – Thanks to the community’s generosity and love for the game of golf, the eighth annual Sacred Heart Charity Golf Classic successfully generated over $191,000 for Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.
Presented by master sponsors St. Joe Company, Camp Creek Golf Club, Howard Group, Grand Boulevard, Silver Sands Factory Stores and Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, the Charity Golf Classic has become the signature fund raising event for Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. As a direct result of time, talent and resources of many leaders in our community, this tournament has raised more than $1.6 million dollars for Sacred Heart, ensuring access to high quality, compassionate healthcare close to home.
Two teams rose to the top of the tournament, capturing the low gross and low net trophies. The St. Joe Company team of Marci Brock, Ed Walborsky, Dave Rauschkolb and Harry Hornish turned in a score of 62, representing the lowest gross score disregarding handicaps. The Rementis Health and Olson team of Steve Barone, Steve Barone, Jr., Leonard Olson and Sam Olson captured the low net score with a 56.2, including handicaps.
In addition to a great round of golf, all players, sponsors and guests enjoyed a special “Night at Flemming’s” event, which took place the evening before the tournament at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar at Grand Boulevard. In addition to live music and attractive silent auction items, guests enjoyed wine, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, compliments of Fleming’s, PF Chang’s China Bistro, Tommy Bahama’s Tropical Café and Kilwin’s Chocolates.
The tournament has supported a variety of areas at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast through the years, including the surgery department, the Olson Women’s Diagnostic Center, the Family Birth Place, the ICU, an inpatient room and the preoperative nurse station. This year’s proceeds will benefit the future expansion of Heart and Vascular Services at the hospital.
This prestigious tournament will tee off next year on Monday, April 12, 2009 at Burnt Pine Golf Club in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. For more information or to support the Sacred Heart Charity Golf Classic, contact Sacred Heart Foundation at (850) 278-3700 or shf-emeraldcoast@shhpens.org.
