MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. -- During Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, Destin’s Hard Rock Café hosted a variety of events benefiting a new “Pinktober Fund” with Sacred Heart Foundation. The fund was established to help provide screening mammograms to underserved women in our community at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.

“Hard Rock Cafés Pinktober initiative promoting breast cancer awareness was a complete success, raising over $2,200 for the new Pinktober Fund,” said Trisha Chason, sales and marketing manager for Hard Rock Cafe. “Hard Rock International has made it both its business and abiding passion to make the earth a safer, healthier and better place to live. Charitable work will always be integral to what Hard Rock is.”

Events throughout the month included two Celebrity Server Days, a drawing for a pink guitar autographed by Lita Ford, a fashion show featuring models from the Olson Women’s Diagnostic Center at Sacred Heart, and a special Survivor Gala honoring breast cancer survivors.

“Since it was established in 1971, Hard Rock Café has been committed to a wide variety of philanthropic causes and activities around the world, and we are very fortunate to have this charity-minded restaurant in our community,” said Leonard Olson, director of Sacred Heart Foundation.

The Olson Women’s Diagnostic Center at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast conveniently centralizes all screening and diagnostic appointments for mammograms, stereotactic breast biopsies, ultrasounds and bone density scans. A dedicated patient care navigator provides patient advocacy, coordination of services, education and support to all women and their families. In addition, Sacred Heart hosts a breast cancer support group that meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m.
